Regular physical check-ups are important at this time to separate a normal menopausal symptom from a serious condition. Common First Signs and Symptoms of Menopause It's not uncommon for women to run to the doctor when experiencing some of the fist symptoms of menopause. A racing or pounding heart rate is scary enough to send anyone to the doctor and that's one of the potential symptoms. Hot flashes, while uncomfortable, normally subside and most women recognize them as a symptom of menopause. Along with the hot flashes come night sweats and flushing skin. A problem with insomnia also occurs at this time. Other common symptoms of menopause early include a change in interest in sexual activity. Some find that their interest drops, which may be because of a decreased response to sexual stimulation, painful intercourse or vaginal drying. Others find that the new freedom from the worry of pregnancy brings an increased interest in sexual relations. There are also other physical and mental symptoms. Urine leakage, mood swings, anxiety, depression and forgetfulness, particularly of nouns, are all normal parts of menopause. While not all women exhibit every symptom, most have at least one or two. Causes of the first symptoms of menopause The hormones affect every function in the body. As the body produces fewer, it requires time to adjust to the new levels of hormones. How to Control symptoms of early menopause There are several changes in your habits that help you through first signs of menopause or menopause by reducing symptoms. Dress in layers of light clothing to remove when a hot flash hits. Avoid spicy foods and caffeine. Increase phytoestrogens in your diet, such as soy products, to level off the drop in estrogen. Use lubricants to increase sexual comfort. Remain sexually active. Find an outlet like yoga, meditation or Tai chi.
